a real simple story

Hello, I'm Stephanie and I'm the creator of the real simple pet. Thank you so much for coming to visit us!

Meet Gunner, he is a LabraBull (a Lab/Pitt mix) and he inspired me to create RSP. It started out with me starting to wonder what was in his dog food. I've always been pretty firm on him not being fed scraps or junk. Some of his favorite treat treats (that's what we call them) have always been cucumbers, carrots and red peppers! Occasionally he will get some meat like bacon or ham but in super small amounts and very infrequently. 

So one day I started doing some research on what was in his food and store-bought treats and didn't like what I learned. His dog food, for the most part, was pretty clean of anything I didn't want him having but his treats were awful! They were loaded with fillers, artificial ingredients and food that humans couldn't eat. I then began to buy dog treats online that had the best ingredients.....and spent a fortune for very small bags. Not cool. Eating healthy should be affordable whether you walk on two legs or four! That set me on a plan to start making his own homemade treats so he could have good food and I didn't have to go broke!

I began to read up on superfoods for dogs, specifically food that humans can also eat that have great health benefits for dogs. Gunner loved being my taste tester! I'd made a few batches and an idea began to form......why not turn this into a full blown company and help other pet owners give their best friends good for them food too? If others felt about their animals the way I feel about the best dog I've ever owned, they're going to want them to live long, strong lives. 

So I found myself playing with recipes, designing a logo, getting marketing materials together and handing out samples to friends to try with their dogs. The name took a bit of work because I didn't want to pinhole us into just DOG treats, maybe one day we'll also have great treats or food for cats too! I also wanted to convey that we are real food, we are basic, simple ingredients and that it was for pets and boom, The Real Simple Pet because we keep it real and we keep it simple. 

I've been a business owner and also worked in direct sales for over 10 years and am no novice holding tables at vendor shows and festivals so that will be a major part of this business. We will post our booked shows on this site for locals to come and shop and meet us. If you're not local, you will have the option to buy and have it shipped.
